The public and private sector partnership has been important in many critical projects. Both sectors have their own advantages and expertise. The latest example of this can be seen in NASA and Microsoft collaboration. The software giant would be sending its HoloLens glasses to the space to help astronauts on the International Space Station. The Microsoft product will provide augmented reality experience in the space.
The project ‘Sidekick’ would consist the best contributions of NASA,a US government’s space agency and Microsoft. The project is aimed at giving virtual support to astronauts working in the space for the Earth, said the press statement released by the agency. The HoloLens device beams holographic images in the 3D space and allows people to touch virtual objects. This Science fiction like experience will be possible in the space soon.
Microsoft acquired Skype would allow astronauts to use HoloLens effective. The ground operator can now watch what crew members can see. The issues will be solved in the real-time due to this technology. The diagrams and notes provided by ground operator will further enhance the work efficiency of the astronaut.
The complex repair tasks used to be accomplished via old-fashioned written and voice instruction in space. Even the experiments used to be conducted in similar fashion. The crew members will require less training in the repair projects now if the technology is properly implemented. The deep space man missions, which NASA plans in the near future would be totally transformed due to this invaluable resource.
